Deep Ocean Diving

The Deep Ocean Diving Homepage

The Deep Ocean Diving Homepage was created by me to provide information on technology, science and medicine applied to scuba diving. The homepage is intended for the diving community on the web interested in how things work in scuba diving (science and technology) and scuba divers (medicine). Some parts of the homepage require some knowledge of mathematics.

This page can best be viewed using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0. This page has been tested on following configurations:

A screen resolution of 1024x768 is advised, though 800x600 should perform as well.

Mathematical equations

The Deep Ocean Diving homepage uses a lot of mathematical equations. HTML does not provide a mathematical equation formatter. As work-around I wrote a PHP script that formats equations using pure HTML (especially tables) (no plug-in needed). The homepage is based on this script for display of math equations. See for more info and the script: http://phpscripts.deepocean.net.

Who I am?

I am Jörgen.

I am born in 1967 in the Netherlands and living in the Netherlands. I've studied physics and I am occupied in automation. I am married and having 2 daughters, Loïs and Noa. Wife and daughters have to compete with my hobbies: scuba diving, running, swimming, science, technology, computers.

Me and scuba diving

I 've been diving since april 1997. It started on Aruba during my honeymoon when I decided to take an intro dive (photo lower left). Since then, my life has never been the same. About 300 dives later (mainly in Holland where I live) the illness still persists. After a week without a dive I start to feel itchy. Since 1997 I've been member of diving association Hydrofiel. End of 2001 I started taking photographs under water.

me and scuba diving

Due to my interest in diving, science, technology and computers I decided to build this homepage. Another reason for building the homepage was the lack of information on science about scuba diving on the web, like decompression theory. The latter reason is becoming superseded, because more and more good sites are becoming available. A third reason is I enjoy being a bit 'artistic' and creating a visual appealing site. Well, decide for your self if I succeeded in this or better should avoid the web ;).
