Risks while diving

Though diving is a fairly save sport some risks are associated with increased pressure the diver is exposed to and breathing pressurized air. DAN reports 2-4 fatal diving accidents (death) on 100.000 dives (1985-1989). In 1991 DAN reported 1400 injured divers on 2.5 million divers (0.06%). US Navy reports 40-50 cases of decompression sickness on 100.000 dives (0.05%).
